Want a Laugh?

Hanna: "Mom, when we have friends over can you p-l-e-a-s-e buy white bread?"

Ash had a bad bike wreck and her right hand was messed up a few days (which she writes with): "Mom, you know I'm really excited about using my left hand. After all, you know I'm anorexic."

Mama had the kids and there is this tiny church on their road. It always has the craziest sayings on its sign. This one said, "Are you a natural?" Mom told Ash, "Ash, I'll give you $20 if you go inside the church and ask them, 'Are you a natural'?" Hanna's eyes perked up. Mom said, "No, I want Hanna to do it. Hanna, will you do it for $20?" Hanna: "Well. . . . I'll whisper it."

Putting a Gig in my Giggle

One of my very favorite things in the whole wide world to do is laugh!!! I just love the sound of laughter and the way a good belly laugh makes me feel. Here are some things that have put a gig in my giggle lately. . .

Hanna: "When I grow up I'm going to have a husband, 20 dogs, a no trespassing sign, and I'm not having a phone." (the "no trespassing sign comes from my dad, James, who makes sure he has one up in his and Mom's yard).

Gigi felt sorry for Cookie and brought a radio over to play for him in case he got lonely for human chatter.

Foolin', Gettin' Pranked, & Prankstin the Prankster

I just love April Fools' day. . . and, yes, . . . this post is exactly 15 days behind. . . y'all know by now that is how I roll. . . after all if I'm 15 minutes late for something (or someone else is for that matter) I still consider them on time. . . This year I didn't do every trick I had up my sleeve. However, as soon as Alec got up and tasted his cereal . . . he looked at me and said in a very "ha, ha, ha, mom, you're so funny" voice. . . "April Fools!"
Hanna got a chuckle out of it too.
Wanna know what I did? I poured their cereal and milk and froze it overnight. I even put the cereal box and milk out on the table to "pretend" like I fixed their breakfast for them.
Well, since I didn't fool them I told them to let's get Ash. So I repoured normal cereal for Alec and Hanna. Ash then comes down to eat breakfast .. . sticks her spoon in her bowl. . . and it abruptly stops her for eating her yummy corn flakes. . .

"Uh, uh, Mom, what's wrong?"
April Fools!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Next, it was lunchtime. I was so afraid I wouldn't be able to get away with this one, as most days when I fix lunch the kids are in the kitchen with me. I knew I had to work and work fast.

Yummy grilled cheese. . . right?????
Wrong. . . how about angel food cake with orange-colored cream cheese icing buttered and fried on a pan. . . the kids were so funny. Before they ate it they were saying, "This cheese looks funny." I told them it was a little old, but it was okay. That's all we had and the heat of the stove cooked out any bacteria or germs. . .
They actually loved the taste!!!! However, I can't fool these kiddos. . . they knew before they tasted it I wouldn't serve them food that was questionable. . .
Well, that night the "Birthday Crew" (we've all been celebrating one another's b-days for years by all going out to dinner together. . . has become sort of tradition). .. we were all taking Jenn. B. to Bonefish to celebrate her birthday. She is the ultimate prankster. In fact, she's the one who inspired to me always try to fool my kids on this day.

I actually had hardly eaten all day long b/c I was saving up for Bonefish. Jenn gets in the car (Lisa and Faith were already with me) and says, "I made some homemade donuts. Anybody want one?" I was starving, so I was all over having a delightful, light, yummy piece of homemade sweetness in my mouth. Funny thing is I had JUST finished telling Lisa and Faith my April Fools tricks on my kids. I fell for Jenn's trick hook line and sinker. I bit into that donut and spit that thing out. It tasted like playdoh. Faith was a sucker too. She fell for it as well! Lisa was the "oh wise and discerning one."

We had such a fun night. However, we had a few tricks up our sleeve for Ms. Prankster herself. I knew the girl would be ordering sweet tea. So after she ordered I "pretended" to go to the bathroom. I went and found a waitress. . . told her our waiter's name (I didn't want Jenn to see me talking to him and think something was up). . . and asked him to only bring Jenn unsweet tea.. . no matter how many times she asked him to take it back, just always bring unsweet tea. It was so funny. One time I had to cover my face with my menu b/c I was about to lose my laughter when Jenn said, "Y'all, this tea is not sweet at all." Lisa also made Jenn one of her favorites. . . blackberry cobbler. . . well, Jenn. does not like cool whip on her cobbler, only ice cream. . . Lisa brought out the cool whip and said, "I got your favorite."

Jenn was fooled. We told her our tea trick at the end of the night too. She laughed so much. . . couldn't believe we pranked the prankster. . .
We all laughed so much and so hard throughout the entire night. . . we even wondered if people would think we had been drinking or not . . .nope, just water and sweet (or unsweet tea if you're Jenn. B) for this group. It's so true what they say about laughter being good medicine. I think we all needed a good dose of this medicine.

If Your Last Name is Hendrix and you are a Female You have NO Business Driving in Altanta

I have never, ever in my whole entire life met someone who drives as bad as I do until I rode with Faith to Atlanta. We, small-town girls, had to go to the big city to practice for Pirates of Penzance. However, just so you know for future reference. . . if you see young moms (and, yes, we still consdier ourselves young) driving in a minivan or SUV who are acting like they drive like grandmas. . . .it's just BECAUSE they are small-town girls. . . that's all. Nothing to be ashamed of. . . However, do watch out. We are slow, cautious, use our blinkers, hope you let us over into your lane, and do not zip in and out of traffic (as all you big time city fold do) and do NOT merge well AT ALL. Also, we may be a little flighty and ditzy. . . .but we do laugh alot. . . .doesn't laughing count for something???? We decided to leave early b/c Faith needed to introduce us to her newest obsession. Isn't it a true friend who shares their obsessions with you? Letterboxing. Ever heard of it? LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! We went to Centennial Olympic Park
The girls reading some clues

It was such a quest and a hunt, and SO MUCH FUN!
Alec found it. He was super excited!
Letterboxing crew
Our stamp (just a cute one I found in my collection). Not sure if we will stick with it or not.
The kiddos then had a few minutes to play at the park.

Before going practice for the opera we headed over to "The Varsity".

I think by the expression on Hanna's face she was sick of hearing "Whadoya have, whadoya have"
And we're going to hype these kids up on coke and grease? You betcha!

I just love me some MaeMae! She's my girl. . . b/c we're both BIG!

With tummies full of carbonation and grease we headed over to practice. . . poor Alec. I really felt so terribly bad for him.
although I giggled alot. . .
so much so, I just had to call Melissa because I knew she would want to giggle and snort with me.

By the end of the night. . . by golly gee. . . . Alec had a smile across his face!
Such a good sport that boy of mine is!

Hayride, Diaper Bag Thief, Near-Death Experience

Our sweet friends, John and Judy have a beautiful farm and invited all of us over for a hayride and to roast marshmallows. LOVED THAT IDEA!!! Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I love the smell of hay. . . takes me back to happy memories of childhood. Hayride crew . . .
This hayride wasn't a hayride. It was more like a roller coaster ride! Bumpy and fast and scary and it made me hoop and holler like a scared little girl! (although I will admit when it was over I did say it was fun)

However, this hayride was not like ANY hayride I had ever, ever experienced. . . This hayride. . . well. . . . the kids' faces looked a little like this. . .
We got to see some cows. . .
Alec isn't much for hayrides. . . you know they are "too little kid". This one, however, he absolutely LOVED!!!!!!!!!!!! (can't you tell by his facial expression. . . just kidding. . . he just doesn't like to smile for pictures. . . hoping that is rebellious as he'll get :)
This hayride stopped us by the lake. It was right before this that I nearly lost my life. . . seriously.

Right before this stop, I was sitting on the back of the truck. The tailgate was open and Mr. John gunned the gas. . . which, made me just about get slung off the truck. My friends and Alec had quick reflexes and saved me!!! I then texted Jon, "Take out life insurance on me NOW!!! Going on a hayride with Mr. John C.

This is what this precious baby thought of this hayride. . .

We AGREED!!!! However, expressed ourselves a little differently. Can't you see the fear in our eyes?
Don't let these gals fool you. . . well, not Jenn. B anyway. . . she was sceered too!
After this Ang. took my girls with her to the Talk House. They were having a Christmas party and Angela was so sweet to include my girls.

Meanwhile, I had Andrew with me. When I was leaving John and Judy's I grabbed the diaper bag in the house. As I went to the Talk House to get my girls, Angela met me saying, "Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't even leave you with a diaper bag."

Me: "Oh yes, you did. I have it right here."

Ang: "Uh, that's not my diaper bag."

Oops!!!! It was Asher's (Judy's grandson). I just grabbed it b/c I had a baby and I just assumed it was his. . . also grabbed the shoes beside the bag. Forget the fact they swallowed Andrew's foot whole. . .

I promised Angela I used to be a mom of babies. . . although I know I seem too ditzy to have ever had enough organization within me to have babies!
