What We Did this Weekend

Really a little this and that and nothing and something. . . just trying to get my blogging mojo back on . . . :) Let's see here. . . . Well, Friday night, our friends, the other "Hendrixes" were having over the Davis family. This is a family with 11 children, although 10 are at home. I pitched in and helped Faith with the smorgasbord of food, so we all hung out at their house. Good food. Good fun. Good fellowship. Saturday morning I got up and did an 11-miler. I told Angela I would run 15 (she was out of town). . . I started out to do that, although Jon almost had to push me out the door. I just couldn't stand the thought of running a long run without someone beside me. I put some sermons on my ipod and listened to them. It was so very muggy, and after 11 miles I. had.had.it. Jon was busy that day looking at a house with Greg G. and went to help Doug L with his water heart. The kids and I stayed at home all day. It was so nice. We did get some really bad waether and had to head to under our stairs in the luandry room. Sweet Hanna was so scared. She just wanted her Daddy. I remember being that way when I was a little girl. . . thinking when my Dad was nearby I was always safe. Ashley immediately said, "Mama, we need to pray." And, . . . we did. All was safe and sound. We had so much leftover food Faith and I decided our families should get together again for more soup and sandwiches. We love their company so much so we were all about it. Our intent was to play Kinect. However, the kiddos got to it. We adults were having too much fun chatting and enjoying one another's company. Just an excuse to have them over again :) Sunday we had church. Then we went to one of my favorite restaurants in town. . . Spicy Thai. It is G-town's hidden treasure. . .Yum, yum good. We came home and I took a 3-1/2 hour nap. Got up just in time to put some sweats on to go to "Truth Project". I'm so loving it. I plan on going through it again, and maybe a 3rd time. It is THAT good! We then went to El Charro, came home, put the kiddos in the bed, and hit the sack. . . I'm really hoping this post will get me back into the blogging groove. Hope to post tomorrow!

D-Now "Set Apart"

D-Now. . . I remember these days in my youth group. My youth group held some of my very favorite memories as a teenager. Since I've been working with the youth, when this weekend came up, I figured since the Lord blessed us with plenty of room, we should be a host home for the weekend. These girls blessed our hearts and our homes so.very.much. My girls, of course, had a BLAST! The older girls were so very sweet to them.
Love this crazy thing!
She was so very sweet. Crista had to be up at 5:00 a.m. to leave and go take the SAT, so Jessica got up with her and helped me cook her a good, hearty breakfast. Afterwards, Jessica and I sat down and had a sweet talk about her mother (she just died from breast cancer). It was a sweet talk and sweet tears. . . . one that will be etched in my memory.

Jessica and Hanna were cuddle bugs on the couch. They cuddled up and watched Andy Griffith until everyone else in the house woke up.
Not only is she sweet, but she's also a little sassy . . .

This sweet girl just fit right in. She isn't apart of our youth group, but you'd never know by the way she just eased right into the group. Her spirit is precious.
Now, this girl is no stranger to our family. She's actually one of my girls. My girls A-D-O-R-E her!!!!!!!
Each group had service projects. Our project was to fix and serve lunch to those working at different houses. Here's the guys that were helping us. . .
I really enjoyed getting to know Irish. I have Ingrid in my Sunday School class. When this first came around I told Todd I wanted my 9th and 10th graders. However, he put the 7th-8th and 11th-12th girls at my house. I'm really glad he did what he did. It allowed me to form and build some new relationships.
Ash was so sweet. The morning we were leaving to serve, I told her I didn't think we had enough room in the van. She didn't pitch a fit. Her little eyes just welled up with tears, tears that she was fighting back to hold in. Broke.my.heart. We MADE room!!!!!!! I just couldn't leave my heart back home :)
Ingrid DID NOT want me taking her picture!!!!!!!!
Love that Emily. She's my soccer girl and has such a sweet and fun spirit. She was so sweet Sunday morning on the way to church. . . "Ms. Michele, in case I forget to tell you, thank you so much."
Jaimie and Jessica
Here are my other 2 girls. Just love them to pieces!!!!!!!!!
Hannah and Katherine
Sweet Caitlyn
This girl in the middle. . . she taught me something this weekend . . . she looked at Ash and said, "She has grocery store feet." W-H-A-T????? Apparently it is really dirty feet. I think I'm going to start saying it all the time now :)
Back home, I camped out on the couch while the girls played Kinect. I enjoyed laughing at them. Y'all I was so sleepy!!!!!!!!!!
The soccer girls
Crazy Crista! Just love this girl. So glad I got to know her this weekend. CRACKS ME UP!!!!
Sweet Somara. . . she'd hardly talk at all. . . From what I heard she's a hoot, but she would hardly talk to me . . . she'd only smile one of the prettiest smiles I've ever seen.
Sunday morning getting ready to leave and take the girls back to church. My body is tired. My heart is full. My spirit is joyful.
Taking these pictures made us late! Oops! Jenn. S (Todd's wife) called me on our way to church to see where we were. . .
One thing that just warmed my heart so much was during the service. I sat with my family and during the meet and greet, the girls that stayed in our home came up to me with a "Set Apart" T-shirt and told me I needed to put it on and sit with them. Just filled my heart to the brim! My prayer is these girls will love and serve our Lord and others to their fullest and best all the days of their lives!
Breakfast before SAT - 5:00 a.m. Ash is so much like her mama. Doesn't miss a party, even if its a bad one or one at 5:00 a.m.

Cuddle bugs
Always time for silliness. . .

If Your Last Name is Hendrix and you are a Female You have NO Business Driving in Altanta

I have never, ever in my whole entire life met someone who drives as bad as I do until I rode with Faith to Atlanta. We, small-town girls, had to go to the big city to practice for Pirates of Penzance. However, just so you know for future reference. . . if you see young moms (and, yes, we still consdier ourselves young) driving in a minivan or SUV who are acting like they drive like grandmas. . . .it's just BECAUSE they are small-town girls. . . that's all. Nothing to be ashamed of. . . However, do watch out. We are slow, cautious, use our blinkers, hope you let us over into your lane, and do not zip in and out of traffic (as all you big time city fold do) and do NOT merge well AT ALL. Also, we may be a little flighty and ditzy. . . .but we do laugh alot. . . .doesn't laughing count for something???? We decided to leave early b/c Faith needed to introduce us to her newest obsession. Isn't it a true friend who shares their obsessions with you? Letterboxing. Ever heard of it? LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! We went to Centennial Olympic Park
The girls reading some clues

It was such a quest and a hunt, and SO MUCH FUN!
Alec found it. He was super excited!
Letterboxing crew
Our stamp (just a cute one I found in my collection). Not sure if we will stick with it or not.
The kiddos then had a few minutes to play at the park.

Before going practice for the opera we headed over to "The Varsity".

I think by the expression on Hanna's face she was sick of hearing "Whadoya have, whadoya have"
And we're going to hype these kids up on coke and grease? You betcha!

I just love me some MaeMae! She's my girl. . . b/c we're both BIG!

With tummies full of carbonation and grease we headed over to practice. . . poor Alec. I really felt so terribly bad for him.
although I giggled alot. . .
so much so, I just had to call Melissa because I knew she would want to giggle and snort with me.

By the end of the night. . . by golly gee. . . . Alec had a smile across his face!
Such a good sport that boy of mine is!
