Van loaded up.
Someone we managed to fit the children in the van with all of our stuff.
I'm not sure why Ash was crying. Doesn't matter. It's over a year later and no one remembers why. . .
Jon and I thought we'd be funny and buy mosquito nets to wear on our heads.
We forced the children to participate in our silliness.
We were very excited about our tent. Here are the boys getting it up and ready.
Steve and Greg wanted to join in on our fun.
Here are our friends' campsites.
The girls and I had matching hats for the beach.
I remember texting my mom that we had "templeton" running around our campsite.
During the middle of the night we had a downpour. THundering and lightening falshed loudly and brightly. Jon and I were discussing whether or not we should be in a tent during lightening. He googled it on his phone because every good and prepared Boy Scout has a phone with internet capability, right???
What he found - One of the wrost places you can be while it is lightening is in a tent. Jon headed to get the van.
The kiddos and I made a quick run for it.
Here we are in the middle of the night in a terrible thunderstorm going to sleep in our van.
Guess who else had the same idea? The Lawrences. So funny!
We all survived and the next morning we all exchanged war stories.
The kids rode their scooters.
The adults ate, talked, and laughed.
That's a mess of sweet kiddos right there. . . Sweet picture.
And. . . Silly picture.
The waves were humongous and amazing!!!!!!!! Honestly, they were quite frightful with the threat of undertows and such.
At night, it was crabbing time. This was so much fun!
We had tiki torches at our site . . . loved this!
With skin like their Mama's our girls were pretty fried so the next day we had to take a break from the beach so we went to this little place Holly and I went to when we went to Destin years before.
We then rode around and decided to have ice cream. I thought this sign was funny.
We got back to the campground and had some good competition with shuffleboard.
One night the girls did crafts.
Even though it was blazing hot, we had a campfire and roasted marshmallows and made smores.
That night we also played Dutch Blitz. It was so much fun. As we were playing a frog hopped right up on the table in the middle of our card game. I didn't have my camera, but I distinctly remember this. It was freaky and funny all at the same time.
We were going to be so excited if we could fit our tent back into its original bag.
Hendrixes
Greenwoods
By the time I got to the Lawrences they were almost packed up.
We had a church service that Doug led.
On our way out we headed back to the little town we'd gone to previously with the Hendrixes.
We went to a candy shop. . . .
a pizza place. . .
and Jon wanted to see Alec and Steven surf.
Happy Campers????
Yes, we all had a great time and decided we couldn't wait again until our next camping trip.
