Celebrating Cinco de Mayo

No . . . we're not Mexican . . . and no one in our family is. No . . . we've never even been to Mexico. But. . . . we are celebrating Cinco de Mayo . .. . for different reasons than the citizens of Mexico. Today is my hubby's 39th birthday. I love, love, love birthdays. So, in honor of Jon's 39th birthday, I'm going to list 39 things that just make me love, adore, and turn into total mush over him.

1. He makes me laugh every.single.day.

2. He is one of the most sincere people I know.

3. He is a man of great character. . . the kind of character that is way down deep in his bones . . . and his heart.

4. He leads our family in prayer every night.

5. He is gentle.

6. He is the kind of man that people automatically respect as soon as he walks in a room. . . not because he 'commands' it, but because of how he carries himself . . . gentle and kind, yet confident and sure of who he is.

7. He is so very, very funny.

8. He makes me feel as if I am the most beautiful woman in the world . . . even when I have on no makeup, my hair is pulled up in a pony tail, and I have rag-tag clothes on.

9. He is faithful.

10. He loves me enough to let me know when I am wrong . . . even if it hurts. Yet, I know he is always on my side.

11. He is one amazing father!

12. He makes our family life so much fun.

13. He can make a game out of just about anything.

14. He is creative.

15. He is one of the smartest people I know. Seriously. . . he can read a book or an article on the Internet on a "how-to" project and do it. The first time he sailed our sail boat was after reading a book on sailing. He just put up a wall and pocket doors in our house . . . by reading up on how to do it. He truly amazes me!!! He can study for the GACE exam in 7 days and not only pass the test, but totally ace the thing.

16. He's the best silly talker ever. He should really have his own language - Jonese.

17. His eyes and his smile make me just go 'goo-goo, ga-ga' over him.

18. He has a kind heart.

19. He doesn't take life too seriously . . . which really helps this 'take-life too seriously' girl.

20. He is my knight in shining armor, my Prince Charming, my 'happily ever after'.

21. He is honest.

22. He takes great care of our family. I never have to worry about bills being paid or how we are going to pay them. I know he will take care of it.

23. He's a great competitor. . . he never lets anyone win . . . you know if you beat him . . . it is a true beating. This includes when he plays our children in something.

24. He's a 'look at the glass half full' person.

25. Just when I think I can't possibly love him anymore than I do . . . I always fall deeper. . . deep that I didn't even know was there.

26. He helps me keep things in their true perspective.

27. He will not allow me to have a pity party. Although sometimes this can make me spittin' mad . . . it always, always, always helps me become a better person in the long run.

28. Sometimes I will wake up in the middle of the night and reach over and touch him . . .just to make sure he's there . . . to make sure this amazing man God has blessed me with is really real . . . to make sure it's not all a dream. He's just that special to me!!!

29. Sharing life with him truly makes me a better person.

30. He gives the very best hugs. I love that he is an affecionate man. I love that he hugs me and makes me slow down even in the craziest and busiest of all days.

31. He is a college football nut . . . I love that he shares football stories with me . .. who's playing whom, what their ranked, the importance of the game, behind the scenes stuff. . . even though he thinks I don't care . . . I do . . . . because he does.

32. I love how excited he gets over our kids' accomplishments.

33. I love that he is always trying to be a better person, a better father, a better husband, and a better son.

34. I love the respect and admiration he has for his parents.

35. He is trustworthy.

36. He is my very best friend. I know he always has my very best interest at heart.

37. Have I mentioned how handsome, good-lookin' and hot he is? If not, then it deserves to be mentioned at least twice!

38. He is very supportive, always a team player. . . willing to do his part.

39. He is a living, breathing, and walking example of God's grace. Take any amount of good I have ever done in my life . . . add it, multiply it, square it . . . whatever. . . and none of it, absolutely none of it . . . warrants me deserving a man like Jon. If God never chose to bless me again in this lifetime. . . being married to a man like Jon . . . is far more than I deserve. He is the diamond in the treasure chest of life.

I love you baby!!! I hope this birthday is the best one yet! I can't wait to celebrate and I promise I will not hoard in on your birthday . . . .even though we are one in the eyes of the Lord . . . so I am feelin' like it's my birthday too!!
